Blank

Blanks are flat semi-finished products with a circular contour. They are cut to size from hot-rolled sheets in accordance with the order specifications. The processes used for this are flame cutting, plasma cutting, water jet cutting or laser cutting. The choice of process depends on the requirements for the cut surface and whether the material can be affected by heat. Water jet cutting is ideal where high temperatures would adversely affect certain material properties. If necessary, the blanks are straightened, deburred and ground after cutting. This allows them to be processed immediately after delivery. Blanks are mainly used for the manufacture of components for containers and apparatus. They are often the starting material for deep drawing work. Other areas of application include vehicle, machine and steel construction.
