Corrosion

Corrosion refers to the process by which materials are degraded by chemical or electrochemical reactions with their environment, possibly also accompanied by an increase in volume. Corrosion often occurs when metals or alloys come into contact with moisture, acids or salts. This slowly destroys the material. Corrosion can lead to discolouration, rust, material loss, material gain or structural damage.
