Duplex Steel
Duplex steel is an alloy of austenite and ferrite crystals that offers high strength and corrosion resistance. It is resistant to chlorides, salt water, fatigue, stress corrosion cracking and pitting, making it a preferred choice in the chemical industry, shipbuilding, offshore installations and food processing. The properties of duplex steel can be adjusted through different alloys and heat treatments. It is manufactured in various forms and can be produced by casting or forging. Compared to pure austenites, its strength is higher and therefore the required wall thicknesses are lower.
