Food Industry
The food industry is downstream of agriculture. Its tasks mainly consist of grinding, mixing, packaging and preserving foodstuffs. Fully automated systems are often used, in which the entire process takes place from the supply of raw materials to packaging. In the food industry, there are high hygiene requirements for machines and systems. The materials used in filling systems, containers, boilers or tools must not impair the food in any way, even at high operating temperatures. In addition, the materials used must be resistant to oils, fats, acids and common cleaning agents. For this reason, stainless steels, which are characterised by their robustness and long service life, are used almost exclusively for food processing.
