Half-Round

Half-rounds are flat semi-finished products with a semicircular contour. They are cut to size from hot-rolled sheets in accordance with the order specifications. The processes used for this are flame cutting, plasma cutting, water jet cutting or laser cutting. The choice of process depends on the requirements for the cut surface and whether the material may be affected by heat. Where high temperatures would adversely affect certain material properties, water jet cutting is the method of choice. If necessary, the half-rounds are straightened, deburred and ground after cutting. This means they can be processed immediately after delivery. Half-rounds are mainly used for the manufacture of components for containers and apparatus. Other areas of application include vehicle, machine and steel construction. The production of half-rounds usually results from the fact that the starting sheets are only available up to a certain width. Two half-rounds are then joined together to form a large round (diameter greater than the width of the starting sheet).
