Semi-Finished Product

Workpieces that have already undergone part of a production process but are not yet completely finished are referred to as semi-finished products. A semi-finished product can therefore also be described as an intermediate product. Examples of semi-finished products include pipes, rods, plates, blanks and sheets. Semi-finished products offer a number of advantages: for example, they can reduce material consumption and working time in the production process and may already possess the material properties of the end product.
