Belt Grinding

During belt grinding, the grains on a grinding belt remove material from the surfaces of the workpieces. The belt runs at high speed over rotating rollers. It is pressed against the workpiece at the contact surface. This process allows us to reduce the roughness to an arithmetic mean value of Ra = 0.8 µm. The achievable value depends on the grain size of the grinding belt. This value indicates how many grains there are per inch (25.4 mm). The higher the number, the finer the grinding result. We have grinding belts with a grain size of 36 to 320 at our disposal. The system allows the grinding of stainless steel sheets and blanks with dimensions of up to 6,500 mm x 3,000 mm x 60 mm.
