Laser Cutting
Laser cutting is a cutting process used in metalworking. Concentrated beams of light strike a sheet of metal at a very high temperature. At this point, the material vaporises or melts. The molten material is then blown away. What remains are uniform, narrow cut joints with clean edges. Since the temperature only affects the material for a short time and in a very limited area, there is no significant thermal stress. The cutting speed depends on the thickness of the sheet metal and can reach up to 10 m/min. Laser cutting makes it possible to cut any contours out of sheets with thicknesses of up to 20 mm. The dimensional accuracy of the process is very high, in the range of 0.1 mm.
